Facebook business pages (fan pages) v. Groups

This is a question I'm being asked more and more... so here's my personal opinion.

My advice is that pages are usually the much better option. The biggest difference for me is that with groups, members have to visit the group page to see updates - with fan pages, updates are included on your fans newsfeeds. Here are some of the advantages I see:

Fan pages:
-closely resemble personal profile pages so the format is much more familar to users
-show wall updates in your fans newsfeeds, just like your personal status updates etc.
-allow vanity urls
-give you visitor insights (statistics)
-allow applications
-are open to the public (i.e. you don't need to be logged in) and so are indexed by search engines
-can add a fanbox to your external website (showing your fans/updates etc)

Groups don't have any of the above, but in the interests of providing some balance they do have a couple of advantages that I feel I should point out:
-they allow direct bulk inviting (inviting people to become fans on pages has to be done manually, but you can still invite members individually - and you can post an invite to your wall inviting friends...)
-some insist groups foster closer relationships - I just disagree. I think it's easy for members to forget to check your group page - so the newsfeed advantage of pages trumps this in my book.
-groups are definately more familar to those who've been members of facebook since the early days
